The aqueous part of PRP is plasma, which is an acellular component containing proteins that are important for tissue regeneration. One of the most important plasma cytokines is a2M. The alpha-2-macroglobulin molecule is synthesized mainly in the liver. But also locally by macrophages, fibroblasts, and it is the largest major non-immunoglobulin protein in the plasma. The alpha-2-macroglobulin acts as an antiprotease and can inactivate an enormous variety of proteinases.
