PCX by IDRIA Concept
The Clinical Problem: PRP dose is lost in processing
Most PRP kits discard a large fraction of available platelets during preparation. Losing 20–60% of platelets leaves patients under-dosed and results inconsistent. PCX was engineered around a single goal: maximize total platelet dose delivered.
Key message: Outcomes track with total platelet dose, not concentration alone. Target ≥1M/µL (≈5×) and 4–10 billion platelets per treatment.
The PCX
Two-step, high-recovery workflow
STEP 1
GEL SEPARATION (SINGLE SPIN)
Red cells and granulocytes are retained below the gel; platelets remain in plasma above.
STEP 2
PROTSMART 2 ULTRAFILTRATION (15 KDA)
Removes plasma water and small solutes while retaining platelets and growth factors—without extra spins.
WHAT THIS DELIVERS
- Platelet recovery: ≥89% (higher than any system reported in independent comparisons).
- Final concentration: 5.5–6× baseline.
- Blood volume: 23 mL total.
- Processing time: 8 minutes (single-spin simplicity)
Why Dose
A 6× product with 40% recovery delivers fewer total platelets than a 5.5× product with 89% recovery. PCX optimizes both variables.

HOW PCX WORKS
DRAW
23 mL whole blood into IDRIA PCX tube.
CENTRIFUGE (SINGLE SPIN)
Per IFU; gel retains RBCs/granulocytes; platelets stratify above.
ULTRAFILTER (PROTSMART 2)
To target volume; water/small solutes exit; platelets and proteins are retained.
RECOVER
2-3 mL concentrated PRP; use as injectable PRP or activate if a gel is desired.
MODES & PROTOCOLS
PURE PRP MODE
Prioritizes low leukocyte carryover (minimal RBC/granulocytes).
MNC-ENRICHED PRP MODE (OPTIONAL)
Retrieve a controlled MNC interface where desired.
What’s Inside
Platelets at 5.5–6×; growth factors & plasma proteins retained via membrane concentration; low RBC/granulocyte carryover (pure mode). Designed to deliver a small-volume, high-dose PRP suitable for injection or activation.
CLINICAL EVIDENCE
ORTHOPEDICS
High-dose PRP (≥10B platelets/injection) outperforms HA or placebo in RCTs of knee OA for pain and function.
AESTHETICS / HAIR
Meta-analyses show significant hair density gains in AGA and superior facial rejuvenation outcomes with concentrated PRP.
WOUND CARE
PRP increases closure rates 5× in chronic wounds vs. standard care (OR≈5.3).
