ChondroHEAL

Introducing ChondroHeal, the revolutionary concept in regenerative medicine that offers a powerful new tool for surgeons

ChondroHeal is a revolutionary concept in the field of regenerative medicine. The combination of an ultra-concentrated and ultra-filtered PRF, mixed with autologous thrombin, offers a new bioactive three-dimensional scaffold to use for cartilage defects and for tendon and ligament lesions. The benefits of having a slow release of growth factors over time (7 days) and the instant polymerization of the fibrin around the lesion, thanks to our delivery device, give surgeons a powerful tool for their practice.

  • IDRIA G is a PURE PRP with high concentrations of platelets and growth factors.
  • ProtSmart eliminates water from all the plasma of IDRIA G and concentrates cells, plasmatic proteins and fibrinogen.

Starting from 28 ml of the plasma and cells produced by the 2 IDRIA G, Protsmart allows professionals to obtain in 5 ml of final product. A high concentration of cells, proteins and fibrinogen that reach a fourfold increase compared to the concentrations baseline in IDRIA G PRP.

When this compound is mixed through our mixing and delivery device with an autologous trombone produced by IDRIA S, it immediately becomes a stable scaffold with high tensile strength and adhesivity.

The method enhances tissue regeneration through site-specific release of cells whose growth factors act as a bridge for the new tissue.

Autologous Bioactive Scaffold

Prolonged release of cytokines

The ChondroHeal preparation process involves the following steps:

  • Blood collection: The patient’s blood is drawn using a standard veneipuncture technique.
  • Centrifugation and separation: The collected blood is centrifuged to separate its components, including red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma.
  • Plasma ultrafiltration: The separated plasma undergoes ultrafiltration, a process that removes the water content and concentrates fibrinogen and other proteins. This results in a highly concentrated solution with potentially enhanced therapeutic effects.
  • Autologous thrombin preparation: ChondroHeal utilizes autologous thrombin, derived from the patient’s own blood, instead of bovine thrombin. This reduces the risk of immune reactions and is advantageous for patients who have concerns about using animal-derived components.
  • Mixing and application: The concentrated fibrinogen solution is mixed with autologous thrombin to create a fibrin gel, which can be applied directly to the treatment site to promote healing, tissue regeneration, and hemostasis.

The use of plasma ultrafiltration in ChondroHeal offers an additional benefit. As it leads to a more concentrated preparation of fibrinogen and other proteins. This aims to enhance the therapeutic effects of the treatment. As the concentrated solution provides a higher amount of bioactive molecules to stimulate the healing and regenerative processes. As always, patients should consult with a healthcare professional before considering any experimental treatment options.
